Where does the address information come from?
The address data we use comes from five different sources.
The New Zealand PAF file is supplied by New Zealand Post. From the PAF we collect all New Zealand addresses to which New Zealand Post deliver mail. This also includes PO Box type addresses.
The AIMS file (Address Information Management System) file is supplied by Land Information New Zealand (LINZ), and contain addresses for all New Zealand properties.
Census data from Statistics NZ from which the meshblock associated with each address is obtained.
The NZ Localities dataset from the New Zealand Fire Service defines the city and suburb boundaries.
Finally, we use accept and verify address submissions from our customers and the general public. These are typically new addresses that are yet to appear in the official sources.
